Interesting trend, this: Small civic groups, clubs, schools, and organizations of all kinds have discovered a new kind of attention-grabber: The nude (or partly so) calendar.

I know, nude calendars aren’t new. The first was probably "September Morn", published in 1913. But I’ve been seeing stories about calendars lately that are an odd hybrid of band-booster club album and artistic statement.

There was a time when the average person wouldn't admit ever having seen a nude calendar, let alone owning one -- but these days a surprising number of Just Plain Folks want to be on one.

It takes a special group of people to publish a nude calendar -- and get away with it. They have to strike a balance between being provocative enough to justify the attention, and not being so explicit as to irredeemably offend community standards. Being sponsored by an inarguably worthwhile charity helps.

If you'd like to help me keep this list up-to-date, I'd love to hear from you. I'm looking for calendars featuring, how shall I say it, Just Folks. "Amateur" nudity (or "apparently nude", as the folks in Topeka described theirs), not sex industry professionals. Therein lies the charm.

There is no nudity on this page. However, some of these links might not be safe for work.
